Welcome

Welcome to the Witches of Agnesi Web site and blog! Science writers Gina Hagler and Margaret Balch-Gonzalez share our thoughts about how issues in science and technology affect our lives as individuals and communities.

Where did our name come from? Maria Gaetana Agnesi was a prominent  18th-century Italian mathematician and social activist. Today, she has mostly been forgotten – except for an odd mistranslation of one of the mathematical curves she wrote about that confused "turn" with "witch."

Margaret and Gina invite you to explore our Web site, visit our blog, and join our conversation, inspired by  Maria Gaetana Agnesi and other women and men dedicated to understanding how to acquire and use knowledge to serve their communities.
